Public Relations Intern

The Door I An Idea House is a creative public relations firm with offices in New York City, Chicago and LA. Internship Overview

The Chicago office is currently looking for Spring interns to start immediately. Individuals who are interested in furthering their public relations experience at a hands-on agency will be considered for our part-time (2-3 days per week) internship program. 

Responsibilities

Interns at The Door will have the following roles and responsibilities: 

  • MEDIA MONITORING - monitor press coverage for a variety of clients, compile press clips, monitor editorial calendars
  • RESEARCH - evaluate trends in the media and hospitality industries by compiling various research audits 
  • WRITING - create press materials, social media recaps, and learn PR writing best practices
  • MEDIA STRATEGY - pinpoint target media by building media lists using Cision
  • OFFICE SUPPORT - assist with the day-to-day duties that serve our clients and our team, such as cataloging media clips and organizing office materials

Requirements

  • Must be able to devote 2-3 days (9am-5pm) per week and also available to staff a few events outside of work hours
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team player with an eagerness to learn 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Keen interest in Public Relations, specifically within the hospitality and entertainment industries 
  • Knowledge of Dropbox, Google Drive, Gmail is preferred
  • Interns will need their own personal laptop equipped with Microsoft Office
